Our yarns from the last spring and fall shearing have been all sold! If all goes well we will restock from this year's shearing and have new yarns available in May 2026.

Felted Fleece Rugs and Covers

You may remember a post from last year advertising a fleece for sale which would make a perfect felted rug. Well, we decided to go ahead and felt the rug (shown above) ourselves over the winter.

This season we decided to let our sheep's fleeces grow a little longer and sell the fleeces to people interested in felting their own rugs or furniture covers.

Raspberry Season is over at the Farm

New Lambs on the Farm

Last spring we had 5 healthy lambs born on the farm. Dorey's Flip is pictured above. His sister Fiona is seen below with Lola's single, Fred.

These lambs wool fleeces are at the mill for processing into yarn this spring. We will be seeing the arrival of up to 6 new lambs in late March and April. We will announce there arrival on this site.

Gotland Sheep

North Beach Farm breeds Gotland Sheep registered with the American Gotland Sheep Society. Our recorded ewe Luna and recorded ram Berg have produced three wonderful, registered ewes over the past three years, Crystal, Daisy and most recently, Emily. Berg and our three Gotland/BFL foundation ewes and our two recorded Ewes have produced 34 healthy lambs with white, silvery white, Gotland Grey and black fleeces! While we will sell raw skirted fleeces, most of our wool is sent to the mill to be turned into specialty yarns.

"Sheep to Sweater" - Hand Crafted on Salt Spring Island

We came up with the idea of producing hand crafted sweaters direct from our farm. We had our two daughter-in-laws Katie and Celine independently pick out a pattern that they would like. The only stipulation was the patterns contain the natural colours of our sheep.

A few years back, Marnie and I celebrated our 50th anniversary by having our friend Monika knit us sweaters from yarn that had been sent to the mill on the Saanich Peninsula. The mill unfortunately has now closed down.

50 Years

For the new project we did not need the mill. We skirted, washed and carded the wool right here on the farm. We made a new Salt Spring friend, Kathy, with a passion for spinning and had Monika and Sweet Pea take charge of the knitting again.

At Christmas Katie and Celine received their North Beach "sheep to sweater" gifts just in time for the cold weather.
